Chavous Consulting 2019 Review!

What a way to close out a decade! 2019 was a year of growth and exploration for Chavous Consulting. We assisted new and current clients and grew our business beyond Philadelphia. This year, we worked on projects in Bucks, Berks, Delaware, Montgomery, Erie, and Dauphin counties. Can you believe it? We are still celebrating this milestone.

Our team worked hard, and we had great success at Chavous Consulting and would like to highlight just a few of our firm's achievements from 2019.

Fundraising & Philanthropy

American Women's Heritage Society 35th Anniversary

Fundraising Achievements

In 2019, Chavous Consulting raised and secured over $600,000 for our clients. The funds raised for these individuals and organizations were used to advance causes and initiatives that are positively impacting communities, residents, and civic organizations throughout the city of Philadelphia and the Southeastern Pennsylvania region.

This year we had the most successful #GivingTuesday campaigns to date. We worked with Global Academies to manage and execute their annual giving campaign which led the organization to its most successful #GivingTuesday campaign ever. We also assisted Bethanna in creating a partnership with 2 Chili's Restaurant locations in Philadelphia. With this partnership, 15% of the bill of guests who enjoyed a meal during #GivingTuesday in support of Bethanna were donated to the organization.

Chavous Consulting also took on additional projects with a focus on Philanthropy. We strategically set out to work with clients and partners looking to make an impact on social justice issues for people of color, women's rights, equity in education, and criminal justice reform, etc. Our firm continues to seek ways to make the world a better place.

Festivals & Events

Chavous Consulting Team at the 2019 N2N Festival

2019 Festivals & Events

This year's festival and event season was our biggest thus far! With a combined total of over 100,000 guests at the events produced by Chavous Consulting, our team hosted 3 festivals and over 20 events throughout 2019.

Some of our favorite events included the Mayoral Spring Ball for Mayor Rohan Hepkins of Delaware County and the Annual Jazz Fundraiser for Global Academies. Other events on the 2019 calendar were the Odunde Festival, The Global Academies Golf Outing, and The American Women's Heritage Society 35th Anniversary Celebration. We also worked with two organizations to produce grand opening celebrations for their new business locations!
Our biggest event was the 2019 N2N Festival hosted by Senator Anthony H. Williams and the Black Women in Sport Foundation. The theme was women in Hip Hop and we had the pleasure of honoring legends in the industry.

Thousands of attendees enjoyed performances by headliners, Salt-N-Pepa, MC Lyte, and Angie Stone. We were also excited to feature a new up and coming R&B group, WanMor whose musical performance was loved by all.
The festival was hosted by the first lady of Hip Hop, Lady B who surprised guests with an impromptu performance. Chavous Consulting produced the event from start to finish with the support of many community partners and stakeholders who helped us ensure the event was a tremendous success!

Government & Community Relations

Yusef Salaam with Members of the PA State House of Representatives

A Focus on Criminal Justice Reform

Made up of Delaware County elected officials and residents, Chavous Consulting assisted the Delaware County Black Caucus in producing the organization's 2nd annual symposium this past October. The topic of discussion was criminal justice reform. The event sold out and featured keynote speakers Van Jones and one of the exonerated five, Yusef Salaam.

We also had the pleasure of working with the American Women's Heritage Society to show a special sold-out screening of the movie, HARRIET, which also included a thought-provoking discussion directly following the movie, led by Attorney Michael Coard, Esq.

Volunteer & Civic Duty Work

Sky Community Partners 2019 Scholars

Making a Change in the Community

At Chavous Consulting, we believe in gender equality and the presence of more women in state office. Because of this, we worked with the Southwest Coalition to produce a meet and greet for Nina Ahmad who is running for Auditor General of Pennsylvania.

We also supported our pro bono client, Sky Community Partners with the organization's efforts to award $122,000 in tuition-based scholarships for 133 deserving low-income children from Philadelphia. Chavous Consulting also supported Sky's Annual 5k Run/Walk which raises money to support pancreatic cancer research and families affected by the disease in 2019.

Last but not least, we volunteered with the Concert Garden in South Philadelphia to raise over $150,000 to support the upgrades needed for the garden. The funding will help to restore the area back to its original purpose and support the initiative to maintain green space in the city of Philadelphia.

Our very own President, Dawn Chavous, was recognized as a changemaker and personally performed volunteer and civic duty work. Dawn organized block parties for the residents in her neighborhood, hosted free movie nights for kids in the community and orchestrated block cleanups.

As a committee person, she also reminded people about the importance of voting on Election Day. These efforts along with many others led to her being named this year as one of Talk Magazine's 100 Influential African American women in the Commonwealth of PA.

Happy Holidays

From the Chavous Consulting Family!

We are so grateful for the support we have received throughout the year from our volunteers, partners, and members of the community.
